Aliecia and Marina are Val’s older sisters who have tormented her during the early years, but encouraged and loved her through the later years. She definitely wouldn’t be who she is today…if it weren’t for them. They’ve been there for each other through many life changing experiences. Through it all…they’ve remained close and supportive of one another.

Am and Tera have been Val’s best friends for quite some time. Although they share this in common, they both came into her life in very different ways.

It was Tera who first introduced Val to Jason, back when they were in high school. Who would’ve thought that her genius plan would’ve, one day, turned into marriage? Not only was she responsible for their introduction…but she is also someone who supports Val in everything she does. Tera and Val are and will always be the best of friends.

Am and Val not only knew each other through middle and high school, but lived with each other all throughout college (and even after). They are complete opposites, yet at the same time, the best of friends. Am tries to be the more level headed…but in reality…she’s just as “cracked out” as Val. That’s probably why they get along so well. With all joking aside…Am has been there for Val when she needed a friend more than ever. She’s always been someone Val could count on

Janice and Val have known one another for as long as Jason and Val have been together. It started off as two couples (Jason & Val and Mike & Janice) hanging out at UCI… to Val and Janice creating their own friendship with one another. Through the years, they’ve been through it all. From the day-to-day nonsense, to traveling far and beyond…to having Val by her side at her wedding…Janice is another one of Val’s best friends.

Joy is a relatively new addition to the clan (in terms of the past 11 or more years)...but…it feels like she has been around since the beginning. She’s the sweetest of the bunch. Given that Val, and the rest of the girls, can be set in their ways….Joy has brought such a warming and heartfelt characteristic that we all needed. She is someone that you could always count on for anything…. The bridal party just wouldn’t be the same without her.

Diana is Val’s cousin. But, besides that….she’s like a sister to her. Not only did they pick flowers and crash into trees in wagons as kids….but they also grew up and lived through many unforgettable moments together. Diana lived with Val and her family during their junior high years…and you can only imagine what that might’ve been like…. Although she’s now two states away…they’ve sustained a close bond that no one could come in between.

Jinha Lee-Oh (aka Miss Korea San Francisco, but now Mrs. Oh) is one of Val’s closest friends from college. Val first noticed her, in class, because she was wearing shoes that were way too small for her. I guess it was just something about heels hanging off the back of the shoes that caugh her eye. Somehow…Jinha ended up moving in with Val during college and they’ve been close ever since. Through college, post-college, and now teaching…their friendship hasn’t changed.
